I'm sure anyone interested in the visual presentation of information already knows about this man, but here are two websites about the man known as the 'God of Informations Graphics', Edward Tufte:-

Thanks, P2! I'd only vaguely heard Tufte's name in passing, but never checked him out. Looks like very interesting stuff!

Two of his books are certainly in my top 20. Beautiful to look at, inspiring, yet so informative.

Look at his site and copy the map on Napolean's retreat (not his design, but Minard's) - it tells the story immediately visually, yet contains much more info. The books are full of stuff like that. Wonderful. There is no joy quite like owning books that are beautiful, yet informative and inspirational.
